At Naturalcity furniture we customize not only the size of our bookcases but also their purpose. This whole unit was made primarily to house what is know as a Butsudan, a wooden cabinet that protects the Gohonzon, the object of devotion in Nichiren Buddhism and takes the form of a scroll inscribed with Chinese and Sanskrit characters, a mandala, of the eternal and intrinsic law of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. With room for books, related objects and space itself, we helped create a Buddhist shrine. Made with selected reclaimed scaffold boards that are joined to give generous storage depth, rarley found in mass produced furniture.
The natural colour of this wood compliments all colours of rooms and all rooms of the house as well as our clients Butsudan. P.S we can make Butsudans too! Contact us for details..

Our friends at the Mixology Group, experts in the art of cocktail mixology, asked us to whip a couple of training bars for their amazing new training space in Brighton almost as quick as mixing a couple of Screwdrivers! Apart from the urge to rise to the challenge of time I wanted to try an idea I'd had of a design for some bar height kitchen island breakfast bars. Similar design as our popular selling console table too. Suffice to say, you can get yourself one or two now on our etsy shop, click here for details.. Stripping down the scaffold boards into thin strips looks good and provides stability to the structure. Ever popular pipe clamps and fixings find their way as foot rests.
